Recently I was invited to take Season 26 over to Lakeside Assembly of God in Shelby Township, MI. I took part in their “LEGO Day” event. Which was pretty interesting. They had the event themed around the idea of how we can build ourselves in the image of God. Using LEGO as the main theme. Allowing the kids to see some models that have been built and allowing them to build their own cars. For a first time event I felt that things were rather smooth for the most part. It is clear the church had a vision and was able to follow though with it. Over all I felt the event turned out very well for something that was new. This was also the first time I’ve taken Season 26 out on the road for the year. First time it’s even left the apartment. In many ways it took me out of my own comfort zone.
Taking out The Project for the first time can be more than a little nerve wracking. Even with all of the experience I have in building. Despite my good understanding of the material that I use. Still have no idea how the build itself will handle the transport. Yet you need that first display so you can know what to expect later in the season. Going to a location that you’ve never been to before can also be a challenge to navigate on top of the worries you have about The Project. Even then you can often be surprised on what God is willing to do for all of the struggles you face internally.
What allowed this display to take shape is the generosity and kindness of the the host location. I felt very welcomed and accepted. They went out of their way to make sure the needs were met. Not just with the transportation but with the other considerations. Season 26 had a few minor issues during the transport but those can be easily fixed at some point. I am very pleased with how this came together. My thanks to the church for allowing me to share my unique talents.
What’s next?
At the moment I’m still trying to find other locations to display at with The Project. With no real idea of which direction to go in or which parishes to contact. The last month or so I’ve attempted to reach out to many parishes in the region. However much like past years this rarely produces good fruit. The reason why the display mentioned above worked is because people were willing to make the commitment and they invited me out. Those almost always make the best displays. It can be difficult to secure locations. Transportation alone is a major factor. Let alone trying to understand what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.
I have a lot of free weekends between now and Nov. I would love to have the chance to fill those weekends up with displays. So please keep this issue in prayer. If you know of a location or have a parish in mind please have them reach out to me.
Closing
Keeping everything around me in prayer. Seeking wisdom of the Holy Spirit to guide me though this life. The Project is built and ready to display. Praying for wisdom on where The Lord will send me next. -
