My life is prayer
My work is prayer…
Someone pointed out this statement to me that was in an interview I gave earlier this year. In some ways it is reflective of how I see my work with The Lego Church Project. However it is also a very true statement on what I do. As I build I am in prayer. Often times with just my hands.
Prayer is at it’s core and an important part of who I am. So much so that I’ve posted more than a few related blog posts on that very subject. It should be one of the elements of the faith that should be most important to us. One that we should rely on. Both when things are going well. Along with the times that are more than stormy.
Growing up in the shadow of the charismatic renewal I learned early on the importance of prayer. Not being afraid to be open on our praying. No matter what the reasons may be. It is often reflected in how I view the faith and how when something is going on that I am always willing to “keep things in prayer.”
It is not uncommon for me to pray though out the entire day. Often reflecting on issues that are troubling my heart and soul. An open conversation with God about what is going on around me. It gives me peace of mind in knowing that God listens to us. Or when I seek out the any of the Saints that have gone on before us. Such as my frequent asking for the intercession of Blessed Solanus Casey.
Over the years I have come to rely on prayer in ways few get to see. The times when an issue presents itself that I almost automatically go into this mode of the need and the desire to pray on the issue at hand. It is because of my understanding of how prayer can shape our lives. Even when we don’t always see the answers in front of us.
I would like to think that my work with the Lego Church Project is a reflection of how I view the faith over all. Of how elements come forward in how I live my life. This is important to me as I find that prayer is critical to me as a deeply devoted Catholic.
My work is prayer. When you think about it. Our lives should be focused on prayer. We should take more time for prayer. Along with not hesitating to pray when the need arises. -
