Foundations of Brick
It is a surprise to many who come across my work to know that I am not even close to being trained in any kind of architecture. I completed high school a long time ago and that is the extent of my schooling. In fact math was my weakest subject. However we never stop learning and even when it is not in a formal setting we are still seeking knowledge.
The Projects come from my own mind. Nothing is really planned or dawn out on paper before hand. Most of what I do comes from learning about the parishes around me and seeing what they do. Trying in my own style to replicate that. Mainly to keep things as realistic as I can. I have a bit of a fascination with church design and it is an area that I don’t get to explore enough of.
As I sit down with the brings before me I am working on the ideas in my head. Though spending a lot more time in prayer to see where God will lead me. Then as I am building I am praying with my hands. Putting all of the worries of the day into the bricks as I set them into place. This is why I call this newsletter (and my blog) “Praying At The Bricks”. My thanks to everyone who has been on this journey with me so far.
Solomon’s Corner
Recently I got to sit down with Daniel Roberts of Solomon’s Corner for a rather good interview. A bit on the long side but we cover a lot about my work and related stuff. They are also on SubStack so check them out!

Looking for displays!
I say this every season and this year is no different. Still looking for parishes to host Season 24. Perhaps I can also give a talk on faith and disability based on the various shows I’ve been on. May the Holy Spirit guide my work. If you know if a parish please have them reach out.
Though please check out Issue 5 of the newsletter for some more details and the reasons why this is a challenge.
Project related topics?
The main post came from something that was brought up with Notes! So feel free to drop a me an idea or two of something related to The Project I can dive into more details. Such as the importance of prayer or even building related stuff. You never know what could give me a good topic to write about!

I love the fact that you're self trained. To me, it makes your designs even more authentic and creative. I understand what you mean about starting without any definite plan. In fiction writing we call this strategy "pantsing" (as in "by the seat of your pants." My current writing project is being done by "pantsing" and I hope it comes out at something people can enjoy.
Thanks for sharing the episode! Had a great time.
