Season 24 has come to a close. Over the course of about three days I took The Project apart brick by brick. I won’t start the Season 25 build for a few weeks. However a few people have asked me what my plans are mainly with the build. I’ll go over a few points with the build and with my overall goals. Along with a request for some prayers and help.
The build
Over the years I have a habit of reusing stuff that has already been built. With the bulk of that being items that are inside. Every so often I will go though and update things as needed. Either simple adjustments or out right total rebuilds. Sometimes this is due to parts breaking or I just want to change things up.
One area that will be getting some updates is the Tabernacle. This tends to get modified season to season and this year will be no different. To what extent remains to be seen. Lot of depends on what parts I have on hand. The extra challenge is that I’m kind of limited with the current space I have set up. Most people who see the project probably won’t even notice anything unless they have seen the build photos of previous years.
The support columns that run on the sides are going to get rebuilt completely. Both for the lower and upper half. These see a lot of wear and tear and have not be updated in years and are long over due. They provide an important role as they help hold up sections of the roof.
Next up on my list of changes is to make some more refinements to the organ. I modified it a bit last season but would love to make some changes to it over all. Or do a brand new rebuild.
The last major idea that I’m toying with is how I construct the main Altar. Most people won’t even notice this unless you see the build progress photos. I want add some extra details and make things a bit more consistent. Plus the bricks that I use have seen a lot of wear and tear. Need to replace more than a few parts this season.
Displays
As important as the build is for my work. Taking it on the road is even more important. It allows me to show people what I’m doing in person. Allowing people to see what I’ve built with my own hands. The pictures I post do not do this proper justice. Given the size and scale of what I build every year. Displays also allow me to talk about issues related to faith and disability.
As of this writing I have two parishes lined up for displays. My annual CTGS display and another parish later in the season. I’m asking for help and prayers in finding parishes that would like to host me and my work. I have more details in “Displaying The Project?” I would love to do a full run of displays starting April. I had extreme difficulty with Season 24. So I’m a little worried about Season 25.
Video Q/A?
The last item as it relates to Season 25 is that I would love to do a recorded Q/A with me and my work. Both with adults and children. We did one a few years ago during the Harrison, MI display. I would love to do something like that again. Something that I can use to help with my work. And that others can use to share the message of using our talents. Not fully sure how this could work out. For now as I’m building I will be praying on these matters.
Closing thoughts
The fact that I’ve been at this for twenty-five years is a profound blessing in my life. I always hope and pray that I am doing what God calls me to do. Even with all the uphill challenges I face with this. My prayer is that Season 25 will be a productive season for me overall. If you would like to help me out. Please let me know.
